| The common plant starch-found in flour, cereal grains and potatoes-is built of glucose. Starch can be split in several ways and eventually yields glucose. Digestion is one such way. After digestion takes place the glucose goes into the blood and is burned. Some glucose may not be burned. The liver takes it and converts it to glycogen. The body then stores this glycogen until the body is hungry, at which time it is digested again. |
